About Andy
Small business owner Andy Pugno has a passion for his community, real world experience, and wants to see California thrive again.
Since opening his own law practice, Andy has built a successful business in the greater Sacramento area as an effective taxpayer advocate — helping hundreds of local families to reduce their federal, state and local taxes.
As a firm advocate of the notion that government should be limited to fundamental services like public safety and education, Andy believes that eliminating wasteful spending will help alleviate the current budget crisis.
A father of three children, Andy knows the future of the country rests in the hands of educators, who prepare and challenge our youth to become responsible citizens. For this reason, Andy is especially committed to getting California’s education system back on track, and is a vocal advocate for expanding charter schools and restoring local control of education funds.
Prior to starting his own law firm, Andy spent several years with a major Sacramento law firm specializing in local government issues. He served as a Deputy City Attorney for several Sacramento-area cities, and counseled many other local school districts, water districts and special districts.
Before practicing law, Andy served for five years at the State Capitol as a Legislative Consultant and later Chief of Staff in the Assembly and Senate. There he worked tirelessly to reduce the size of government and increase local control.
While working full-time at the Capitol, Andy attended night classes at McGeorge School of Law, graduating with highest honors. He also holds bachelor degrees from UC Davis in both Political Science and Spanish Language.
Andy is committed to service and makes time to support charitable organizations such as the Knights of Columbus and Sacramento Life Center. He also serves as a volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America and is a member of the National Eagle Scout Association.
Andy and his wife, Colleen, have three children and are parishioners of St. Mel’s Church in Fair Oaks.
